Subject: Explanation of New Election Procedures for Faculty Elections to the
The Amended and Restated Constitution approved by the University Senate provides that the Independent Faculty Body will administer the elections of the twelve faculty University Senators. The thirteenth faculty Senator will be the Chair of the Independent Faculty Body ex officio.
Of the elected faculty Senators, six will serve on the Academic Policy Committee and five will serve on the Committee on Faculty of the University Senate, making their choices known to the Electing Body at the time of nomination. They will then be counted as representatives of their GROUP or College. This will determine the constituencies of the ten remaining seats on the Academic Policy Committee and the remaining eight seats on the Committee on Faculty with elections to be held in the Fall of 2000.

ACADEMIC POLICY COMMITTEE
The eleven elected Senators (not Law) will be polled as to interest on the committee and six Senators will serve on the committee taking the seats assigned to their constituency. After they choose, elections will be held in those constituencies not already filled. Terms of office are for two years.
Faculty Membership on the committee:
A & S Group I 2 seats A & S Group II 2 seats
A & S Group III 2 seats A & S - Group IV 2 seats
ENGINEERING 2 seats A & S - Group V 2 seats
NURSING 2 seats
COMMERCE & FINANCE 2 seats Total = 16 seats
COMMITTEE ON FACULTY
