Candidates' Biographies

Susan Mackey-Kallis, Department of Communications,   1991; Ph.D., 1988, The Pennsylvania State University. Currently an Associate Professor in the Communications Department, she is also a member Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, (nominated while a Master’s Candidate.) Elected to the University Senate in 1994, she is serving her third term as an Arts Representative, and has also chaired the University Senate for Academic Years 1997-2000. A strong faculty welfare advocate, she has authored or sponsored such Senate legislation as increasing the University’s subsidize (with a 20% contribution) faculty’s staff’s, and students’ child care costs for using Rosemont’s childcare facility, and exploring institutional responses to issues of diversity on Villanova’s Campus. She has recently overseen the restructuring of the University Senate and the revision of its Constitution in order to create a more effective vehicle for governance at Villanova. Her University Senate Committees service includes the Social Action Committee and the Planning and Prioritize Committee. She is currently a member of the Middle States Review Task Force on Organization, Administration, and Governance. Past College and University committee service includes the Arts and Science’s Committee on Faculty Development, the Core Humanities Writing Committee and the Presidential Scholarship Award Committee.

Harry Strack, (1968).  Ph.D. University of Iowa, B.A., M.A., University of Pennsylvania. Associate Professor, Department of Political Science.   Current Memberships: University Senate, Faculty Senate, Academic Policy Committee, Executive Committee of University Senate and Academic Affairs Committee of the Board of Trustees.
